What is Stand Up and Cook

Well well well look at the thyme. Cooking can be difficult. Cooking with a Comedian will add a little spice into the process. We are offering laughs along with tasty food. Our goal with this event is to give a tasty cooking class with commentary provided by the Comedian. We have simple yet super tasty Vietnamese recipes that will keep our participants engaged and invested. But, even the simplest of recipes can have their complicated moments. But romain calm! Our comedian will shine and keep the audience engaged and lighthearted. This takes an event from being good to being great! So lettuce celebrate! Follow us on Instagram @standupandcook for the announcement of the dish and our comedian!

Who are we?

We are a group of 6 women in our final semester at the George Brown College Event Management Program. For our capstone project we want to put on an event that plays to our passions and empowers women. We want to combine education with entertainment and that is how we came up with Stand Up and Cook - an interactive cooking class with a comedian as the proxy for our attendees.

Empowering Women

We are an all-female group and very passionate about lifting up women. This is a not-for-profit event where all of our proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Women's Foundation in honour of Women's day, on March 8th.

Starring Taste-Toronto's Vicky Tran

Vicky Tran is a Toronto based Culinary professional specializing in recipe development, food styling and food photography. With 15+ years previously working in the local restaurant and catering industry she has amassed an ability to develop recipes in a wide range of global cuisines, but her heart will always lie with her native Vietnamese. She currently works as a freelance creator for clients such as TasteToronto as well as Ensembl Cookware. Her passion will always lie in food and how to capture and create visually compelling images but she finds the most gratification in being able to teach others how to cook for themselves and awakening a love for creating a communal dining experience that they may not have known existed.
